Not that he's afraid or anything. Just anxious. Part of him wants to get it done and over with, just to prove that he's the best. Another part just doesn't feel like putting in the effort, okay?
And in traditional Gideon fashion, in order to shut up the conflicts in his mind, he does what he does best - starts work on another project to keep himself busy. Good luck getting through to that.

Gideon? She starts to feel stupid. Of course she hadn't called to see if he was actually home or not. Chances are he could still be at his office working on the plans for the Toronto theater. She opens up her phone and tries her best to sound as sultry as she can.
"Hey, baby," she practically purrs into her receiver, twisting the end of her ponytail around her finger as if she's fifteen years old and Gideon is her first boyfriend. "I was just about to check in on you. You're not too busy with work, right? I was thinking we could stay in, maybe watch a movie or two." And then, in a sort of sing-song voice: "I have a bottle of Alfred Gratien with our name on it." (She'd been hooked on it since ( ... )

She knows he's an important man and that important people will always have insane amounts of work to do, but she hasn't been shot down by anyone since she became Envy. The last time she was shut down, she was--Natalie.
She decides that she can't admit defeat. Sure, she shouldn't have to work so hard to spend time with her boyfriend--if that's what he could be called anyway. She's sure that he's her boyfriend. He wouldn't have looked out for her this way if he wasn't.
"Don't be like that," she says, still all purring and sultry. "I'm a big girl now. I can sleep whenever I like. And let them assume what they want. We don't have to explain ourselves to anybody."
