Narnia homeplot (for Sansa)

In the time that hadn't been occupied by duties or exploring her former home with her friends, Susan had indulged in the extremely girly but entirely pleasurable activity of taking the longest bubble bath she possibly could. It was so nice, warm and comfortable and entirely luxuriant that she nearly fell asleep in the bubbles before Mrs Beaver ( Read more... )

Sansa having spent the afternoon singing and playing with Caspian before having a lovely tea had not thought anything could be more splendid. Then Susan had told her there was to be a party and offered to do her hair and she'd barely been able to restrain her glee.

She had at least dressed first, Mrs. Beaver managed to find a grand array of lovely gowns for a woman with child for a castle with whose two unwed Queens were the only human female occupants but Sansa did not mean to question this. It was only to her benefit. She wrapped gently on Susan's door and then quite rudely and only because she was so eager and excited, she poked her head round not waiting for an answer. "Susan?"

"Sansa, come in," said Susan, very glad to see her. She had felt quite the fraud today, doing all the things she knew a Queen needed to do without being one anymore, but seeing how everyone else was enjoying the experience made her happy enough to put that aside somewhat. "Have you had a good day?"

"Oh Susan," said Sansa smiling widely and brightly, almost hugging herself with joy. "I've had the most wonderful day truely, Chatterleaf who is most helpful showed me where I might find a harp and then Caspian joined me!" Susan knew how she felt so Sansa could be completely honest. "Did you know he played the recorder?" she asked, "I had no idea but he's ever so talented and then Mrs. Beaver brought us tea and got quite the wrong idea and he explained ever so nicely without making me sound a disgrace." Sansa realised belatedly she was babbling and called herself to a halt, "Narnia is very lovely," she said, "How was your day?" Sansa hoped Sussan wasn't being overworked as Queen and she was getting a chance to enjoy herself.

"I'm glad you've had a good time," said Susan, unable to keep from smiling at Sansa's enthusiasm. "And that Caspian did so well at entertaining you." She was glad she'd not had to prod him, as she had before the Redman ball.

"My day was... good, I think." She turned to fetch down an inlaid box from the top of a dresser, motioning for Sansa to come and sit with her on the bed. "It has been good to see so many old friends, though sad, as well. And I feel a bit of... a phony, I suppose, pretending to be a me that I'm not anymore." She began opening little drawers and doors on the box so that Sansa could look through the jewelry inside. "But there's no point in trying to explain to them what's really happened; it would only worry and confuse them."
