LotR - assume book continuity unless otherwise specified:
1) I feel silly saying this, after your answers, but - Sam, Sam, dear, sweet, caring, loyal submissive Samwise Gamgee. IMNSHO, he's the true hero of the books, not Frodo. (I also read him as the hero of the third movie.)
2) Faramir. I mean, he's just another captain of Gondor when you meet him, and he's too pure to be real - and then the whole fucked-up family life unfolds like a particularly fetid flower, and you realize he has to be that damn good to be worthy of Eowyn, and suddenly everything is okay. (That he now has David Wenham's face and voice for me doesn't hurt a bit, oh, no, it doesn't

Cardcaptor Sakura - anime continuity only, as I haven't read the manga; original series only, not Tsubasa.
1) Yukito. Kind, gentle, and obviously a precog even before you find out anything else about him. Plus, he has two elementary school kids crushing on him and he doesn't hurt their feelings once. That's compassion that deserves reward.
2) Yamazaki. Good gods, I hated "the lying kid" until more than two-thirds of the way through the show - and then suddenly his actions became more important than his words. Plus, he's multi-talented - which tends to mean something in the context of the show.
3) Is it okay to say that I don't like Kero-chan? When he's in his plushie form, he's a complete idiot. He's loud, he doesn't think ahead, he's reckless, and he's not very sympathetic to Sakura. He's also a horrible teacher. In the episodes leading up to Yue's judgment, Shaoran teaches Sakura almost everything she knows about Clow, the cards, and the way the magic system works - which still isn't very much. Kero completely failed

Heh, I note we both have different types we prefer and neither one is particular healthy. Gee, I know, what a shock, right?
