Exactly, and how do they expect to be seen as like, ~proponents of Korean culture~ when they themselves clearly know fuck all about it? It's absolutely ridiculous.

It makes sense that your students may not have great English pronunciation though because they don't live in a mainly English-speaking country. Simon and Martina have lived in Korea for a number of years, hearing native Korean day in and day out, and they would pick up both the language and a decent accent just by osmosis unless they were purposely avoiding doing so, which seems to be the case, and that is a whole other issue in and of itself.

I used to like them.
but after their constants shade to hyuna and their advice about Shinhwa should have not bother making a come back, I can't with them.

I don't understand how you can compare Shinhwa to B1A4 and Exo?????

And .... did they seriously just compare Shinhwa to SClub7. That's like saying if H.O.T were to have a comeback they shouldn't because they're more of a band from the past.

The Hallyu Wave is what is getting these newer kids into kpop. So of course they're not going to know amazing groups like Shinhwa who have SHAPED groups like Shinee and Exo into what they are now. It's unbelievable for Simon to even say that.

This is like at SMTOWN and this kid behind me was like "oh i didn't know fanclubs had colors" and we got into this discussion and he was like "Exo should be orange!" and we explained to him that Shinhwa is orange and he was like eh .. whatever, who's Shinhwa anyway! about it. HE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHO TVXQ WAS UNTIL THE DAY OF THE CONCERT. I was just willing to flip myself off the bleachers then and there.

i am willing to bet any of the bands they mentioned in the video couldn't fill venues as easily and fast as shinhwa did. album sales are no longer an indication of success. just look at groups like nkotb and bsb. they are touring worldwide and getting their big paychecks through tours/royalties. shinhwa is doing the same with their asia tour as well. i don't think b1a4 and exo can just get up and say hey let's go on an asia tour guys! lol

omg at your smtown story. maybe not knowing that fanclubs have colors is passable, but not knowing tvxq? oh lord. every k-pop fan should know of the existence of mirotic and rising sun.

Where are you guys getting that he said they shouldn't have made a comeback? As a Shinhwa fan I was ready to be butthurt about it, but that wasn't the case. The most offensive thing he said was comparing Shinhwa to SClub7. Come on. At least N'Sync or BSB. :/ But Simon wasn't being abrasive. he asked to be corrected and stated he was only forming an opinion based off the numbers their polls were getting. He didn't diss their music at all. He said they weren't that popular with the young generation, and honestly I think he's right ( ... )

the part where they said it was like sclub 7 getting back together and that it was just not right. also when they said that their friend thinks they shouldn't invest that much in their comeback. basically they implied that they shouldn't even try. yeah i agree on the younger generation not knowing them, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't try and expand their fanbase. i mean they have been gone since 2008 and just by going by youtube comments alone they have gained a lot of new foreign fans through this comeback.

i didn't think his opinion was offensive/invalid but i was just a little put off by it that's all : )
