i'm gonna echo other comments with the same sentiment, that i've always find it really difficult to join any discussion regarding this topic or even have a clear cut opinion. i come from a country where openly criticizing its leader/government can get you in a lot of trouble. whenever i visit i make sure to watch what i'm saying on whatsapp or messenger. i have a family member who is a political prisoner, i've never even met him. i hate the person who is in charge with a burning passion and him + party in charge still actively deny our bloody history. but i also still cherish my country and whenever i visit i feel like i'm "home". obviously this is projection and no point in comparing china to my country because there are endless intricate differences, but i also don't think it's as simple or black/white as a lot of people make it out to be ( ... )

okay so tone of this article rubs me the wrong way. is this "money today" some right wing conservative / clickbait publication or is it the translation that's weird?

like. focusing more on chinese activities equals being "pro-chinese"? saying korea is a small country means "degrading koreans"? why are we conflating criticism with degradation anyway? what's up?

I think by calling Korea small they might be inferring that it's lesser/uneducated? At least that's how I'm understanding it

i mean, maybe? obviously it would be very telling if henry is leaving up legit hate towards korea and while deleting similar stuff towards china. BUT there's so much left unsaid here that it's hard to say what actually went down.

i'm no henry fan but this article (or it's translation, at least) appears to be written to fuel nationalistic tensions rather than actually report news.

Do I understand this correctly:

He ignored comments denigrating Korea but quickly deleted comments denigrating China? Cause the comments made me think I misunderstood.....

Leaving aside my own nationalism indoctrination, choosing to delete only anti-mainland sentiment means Henry is clearly making a decision. It's different, to me, from other Olympic posts we've had here.

Unless Henry seeks mainland citizenship.... which I doubt.

Then again, maybe Kris Wu's case has really terrified certain men.
