just dropping in to say that even though i am moderately biased towards jinyoung, i do think he's doing a really good job. i haven't watched episode 4 so i'll be back later~~~~
Okay I'm trying to remember what my thought while while watching these so here's a stream of thoughts~
(and SPOILERS ofc)
- as someone on twitter pointed out, An touching dead bodies without gloves and then touching his face = N O P E - okay so I forgot to mention this earlier but I'm still not over the fact that An and the brother even survived the fall from the 5th(?) floor hitting on top of the car so hard it dented, and then they just show the brother walking out of the hospital with nothing but a broken arm and a scratch on his cheek, a miracle!!! This is the thing that makes me go hmmm @ kdramas but I'll let it slide okay- idk is this a thing kdramas do often or is it just here, but they do so many of these flashbacks into scenes we've literally seen like 15-20 min earlier in the same episode as if the viewer can't put 1 and 1 together

This happens a lot lmao It doesn't bother me a lot (as long as it's not too often), I guess I'm used to it because it happens a lot in anime as well.
Funny you mention anime because some of the plot choices or scenes remind me of anime lol (that and fanfics lmao but I like both and here I am hyping this drama so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
I still have just watched a chunk of the first episode, but I'm looking forward to watching it. I'll probably watch it later tonight, and come back here to comment.
The one flashback of him fighting with other kids had me laughing hard for the anime realness.
That scene plus the one in ep 1 (or 2?) where he jumps from the rooftop and almost crashed into Jaein were like straight up from an anime, I'm legit thinking that's where kdramas take their inspiration from sometimes.
Also ngl when I saw that scene all I could think of was that Jinyoung used to pretend-kick Yugyeom like that all the time (that's probably where he got it from lol)
it took me a bit longer to watch episodes this week but yay, i just finished them earlier today! story-wise, i'm just in it for the ride at this point because i legit have no idea what is going on lmfao. according to fans on twitter, there are so many hints and allusions to things that are maybe/probably gonna happen and i swear i try to keep up, i try to notice all those things but i'm dumb and i just can't! lmfao i'll let someone else figure all of that out and just enjoy things as i see them
( ... )
I love how your comment just basically mirror exactly how I feel as well lmao I feel like the intricacies of the mystery plot are getting lost on me so I'm just following along until it's all revealed to me lol
( ... )
you're totally right about jinyoung being able to convey lee ahn's nuances really well. i agree with that, sometimes his facial expressions go from one to another so smoothly, i'm like... an actor! jinyoung is indeed an actor! lmfao but seriously i've noticed that he does one thing in particular so well, namely going from funny to serious (or the other way round). psychometry has a few of those scenes, like jinyoung joking around with his noona or even jaein and then suddenly something happens and his face totally changes. he's so good at the transition between facial expressions. also control of his voice! a lot of small nuances like you said, and sometimes it's things in a matter of seconds but the way he controls and changes his voice according to the situation is so fascinating lmfao i love it
( ... )
I totally know what you mean. The acting could easily look awkward but Jinyoung saves it from going there because of that.
when lee ahn tells sungmo that he missed him but it turns out that was just a figment of his imagination? it wasn't really sungmo right?WAIT omg I feel stupid I just went back to watch that scene and you're right he's not there when Ahn looks up the stairs (or so it looks like) asdfghj I was so focused on Jinyoung (this just proves I'm not paying enough attention when watching these lol). But it makes more sense, I thought it was so weird he'd just show up like that but now that scene just gets that whole 'nother layer that I missed the first time. I'd like to see how their *actual* meet-up went down and what Sungmo's reasons really are

i'm actually enjoying this a lot more than i thought i would....? i'm like excited for the next episode and not just because of jinyoung. like obviously the plot is OTT but i usually find kdramas with crime/police elements are like really unrealistic, often to the point that i have to drop the series, but i'm still here for this drama and i think it's mainly because i like the characters and their interactions
( ... )
lol i know, i'm just scared because brother-as-love-rival is such a big kdrama trope and jaein was so moon-eyed when seeing sungmo again. i'll be praying against this.

Well, a lot of dramas are being adapted from webtoons, and those are heavily influenced by manga/manhwa, so there's that.
