In The Zone Agility Day 1

Today was miserable!  The website for the agility host is terrible and included a "tentative" schedule for the weekend, but no confirmation that the schedule would be, in fact, as posted.  Also, I had no idea how quickly the trial would progress.  At the only other agility trial Faith and I have attended, they had two rings going at one time and ( Read more... )

sometimes it helps to knock the first bar rather than something in the middle/end. takes a bunch of pressure off and you run the rest of the course a little better.
plus! if i read your squiggles right you did not have to babysit faith coming out of the tunnel to the jumps! when valkyrie first started if i was not right outside the tunnel when she came out she would panic and run directly to me skipping every obstacle on the way! so yay for distance!

Yeah, my nerves disappeared as soon as the bar dropped, and then I had fun. It's weird how that works! Aw, that's cute about Valkyrie making a beeline to you. Faith and I are getting better at distance work. I am in awe of some of the Elite handlers; some of them seem to never move from one spot, directing their dog through the whole course with subtle hand and shoulder movements!

yeah! it truly is amazing! one day... maybe.
at least i knew then that valkyrie wouldn't leave the ring without me?
distance work is essential if you don't want to be running around the whole course with your dog! too tiring even if it is for just a minute :)
