I received a complimentary copy of a The Object Caml Programming Language in the mail while my journal was suspended. I received it as a gift because I was one of the reviewers.

I think it's a fairly well done book. And a nicer introduction than many out there, and it goes well beyond being an introduction in later chapters.

I managed to inherit a large selection of Metallica. And while I am not a music collector, exactly, I am a data pack-rat. So I continue to have it on my hard-drive despite not actually liking most of it.

The most recent Order of the Stick strip is utterly hilarious. Sadly, it's only hilarious if you've been following the cartoon for awhile and know the characters. OTOH, it's a great cartoon if you're into D&D at all.

But, not until the end of April. And I will get at least health insurance for 1-2 months after that.

First, I really appreciate that attachmate is handling this in this way. I greatly appreciate having that kind of trust extended to my co-workers and I, and I will do my best to honor it.

I like government that is as small as possible. One of the tricks to making this happen is making very intelligent and future thinking choices that are easy to implement and have a broad impact. The problem is, it's much easier to see symptoms and try to treat them, and that's what usually happens.

Like, really snowing. It's the first time I've ever seen anything like it in Seattle. The people here are going to be totally discombobulated, but it feels like a slice of 'home' for me.

I've been running tests of ping times and the results look like I'm right. Ping times do seem to fit an exponential probability distribution, which also means that the facile statistical analysis that mtr and ping now do are misleading in terms of predicting what future ping times are likely to be or in saying something about how much 'jitter' a ( Read more... )

It is amazing how much mirth has been generated by exposing people at work to the word 'widdershins'.

And I'm now posting from it. :-) It doesn't seem to work perfectly yet, but it does have it all over Twitter IMHO.
