Ooo, I cannot wait for my Children of Hurin. (It has been signed by Alan Lee! I cannot stop gleeing.) I hadn't heard about the writing style: Hobbit-like sounds interesting. Weird, of course, but interesting. (And wait, there are people who don't go "Noooo! You can't end there! Nooooooooo!" at UT? Or pretty much everything he wrote? Huh.)
Hobbit-like is a bit exaggerated, but it's much closer to that than to the epic and aloof style of the Silm. Which isn't bad, but it is weird. - Why do you get a signed copy? *envies* (Apparently people like that exist. I don't get it either.)
Is it much like the version in UT, then, style-wise? - I get a signed copy because certain people are far too good to me, and when they go to get their own copies signed, bring along an extra. ^_^ (Oh, well. D: Their loss, I guess.)
Partly. The first chapter is the most hobbit-like, but I guess that's because Túrin's a kid there... The bits right out of UT are, of course, very like (if not the same as) the UT version. And it stops being Hobbit-y. ;)
