I have a mid-level CatEye odometer ... I forget exactly which model. I like having one that tells me trip-average mph, overall mph, trip distance, and overall distance.

When you're up to speed, you'll be able to do 6 miles, in traffic, much faster than one hour. Totally.

Also, we'll be able to go out biking! And take a picnic! And be silly! Perhaps we could even join that bicycling gang with the disco ball setup that goes out late at night some weekends. ;)

(PS - I have your icon on a tshirt at home. It's awesome.)

I wish they still made that shirt with the reflective ink (I got one for Mart and one for my little brother, who, before he moved, used to bike to work also).

I am waiting for it to go on sale so I can get myself one, too.

And am now looking up all these odometers. Thanks!

ALSO OMG DISCO BIKING FUCKING AWESOME

Mart's getting his bike fixed up this week (so it'll actually be rideable).

We are TOTALLY doing this disco bike thing. My sense of the ridiculous demands it.

I've been thinking about doing the same thing for the last couple months... I just needs to get the funds to do it.

Budget several hundred dollars for a decent ride; the range I found was $300-$500 for a new bike.

That is what I was looking at, was going to use tax refund, but the need for a new bed was greater.

Yes. Beds > bikes.

try looking at Craigslist; you might get lucky and find a good deal there.

Excellent bike. And how cool to find a shop that will take that much time to help you find what's best for you. Many thumbs up.

More reason to love Boston: it's actually FULL of good bike shops, as the city's compact enough that bike commuting is feasible almost everywhere.

That is a sexy bike. And - Ferris Wheels! My partner works there (though he was not working on Saturday).

I said it before, I'll say it again. Nice bike.

I wouldn't mind a nw one. My mountain bike is from 95. Paid $1200.00 on it. It's starting to show it's age, and not very comfortable to ride. Needs a new seat and chain. Maybe new tires. The handlebars have never been very stable, twits to easy while the front wheel doesn't turn. Like when trying to go down hill (or stairs).

I used to ride it 5 to 7 miles when I was in college, which took about 30 minutes if I took my time.

I live about 20 miles from work now, and don't want to ride it that far. Moving closer wouldn't happen until next January, but cost of living (rent) goes up even more the closer you get to A^2.

It's bugging me so hard that it's been snowing all day today. I can get it home in this weather, but DAMN I wanted a quick ride around, too.

POOP.

(still excited)

short ride, do it anyway.

Years ago, 96 or 97, we got a heavy snow storm. I couldn't get my car out of the drive and had to go to work. Got the mountain bike out, and road the mile to work. I made it a point to clean the snow and salt off after I got there. It was hard, but so worth it.

Ride home was much easier.

I used to ride my bike to that job, or roller blade a lot. Now that I think about it I kind of miss it.
