Hi-5 Breakfast Meet-and-Greet... and a brand new Hi-5 show
We had the most awesome start to our weekend - the boys and I had breakfast with the lovely cast of Hi-5!!!
We adore Hi-5 and all their songs - baby Jo even breaks into a crazy dance whenever Hi-5 comes on TV - so we were beyond thrilled to meet the chirpy group - Stevie, Mary, Ainsley, Tanika and Dayen - in person.
It was a real pleasure to have Ainsley Melham sit with us. My boys probably did not realise what a rare privilege it was to sit down and eat with the cast but AH, I was quite the star-struck fan!
We had a very enjoyable chat with Ainsley over a sumptuous breakfast of sausages, toast and eggs.
I was a bit surprised by how sincere and down-to-earth he was. He gave the boys Hi-5 caps and the girls hairclips and made the effort to know everyone's names. He listened patiently to the kids' (longwinded) stories. He taught the kids origami and bookworm Sean even read him a storybook about chicken pox, haha.
Ainsley shared openly about their busy filming and traveling schedules and his favourite hangouts in Singapore (Long Beach seafood, Haji Lane). Their passion for their jobs and their love for children is very apparent.
Interesting tidbits: the Hi-5 cast members actually sanitise themselves rigorously after every performance (because they shake hands with so many kids) and have backup members who learn all their parts and step in when any of them fall sick!
After breakfast, we adjourned outside for some bubble time.
The boys had a lot of fun having bubble fights with the cast. They were so good with the kids!
I was very touched when the event was over and even though Ainsley was swarmed with people wanting to take pictures with him, he actually came over to say bye to the boys personally. They are truly stars :)
