Как научиться переносить этот отвратительный праздник без стресса? Вот только что девчонки-коллеги притащили стих, который я в обязательном порядке должна буду завтра прочитать. Ужасный стих. «Поздравляем-желаем», бла-бла. Теперь не могу выбросить из головы мысли о предстоящем моральном самоизнасиловании. Мои глаза кровоточат от таких стихов :' ( Read more... )

Yes, it is. But in fact it transformed to be a day of all men and boys. And it is obligatory to celebrate it at work. I don't know why. I don't like to celebrate with my colleagues. Somehow it's not possible to just say "congratulations, men" and drink tea and eat cakes and talk and laugh. Everybody feels that it's absolutely necessary to make some performance. So girls usually find some poems and recite them. The poems are really low quality ones. And everybody has to pretend that it's just great. I call it The First Corporate Hypocrisy Day. The second is on the 8th of March, when men make something of the kind to congratulate women ( ... )

I think you described it very well. )))

I have seen similar things here, such a a compulsary celebration of birthdays in a workplace, but not such that people recite poems, I think I can imagine and maybe understand what you speak of.

I can understand the wish for a choice in what you find to be worthy of celebration and also the right to celebrate in such a way as to have meaning for yourself.

I had a smaile when I imagined the goings on in the workplace... somethings are universal regardless of culture. )))
