As things are getting extremely crazy trying to get things done for crew change, the weather has turned to crap. This wouldn't be so bad if not for the fact that we spend so much energy just hanging on that it gets difficult to get any work done ( Read more... )

This sounds like an insane game of "Ring Around the Rosie" ... and of course, at the end, everyone falls down.

We're in Dallas, waiting for Ike to either keep going east or hit us. So far it's still headed east but we're expecting rain.

Be careful out there!

they are saying that everything in houston that does not have underground electric lines are out of power. houston is flooded. galveston is flooded and bad bad windy. huge waves and storm surges. over 2.5 million out of electric in the houston area. 75 mph gusts around beaumont, 100+ mph gusts in and around houston. it's all heading northeast. looks to miss san antonio and austin but hit the dallas/ft worth area and a huge chunk of northern and central louisiana. tornados run amuck throughout the entire area. will probably go all the way to oklahoma, all the way across arkansas and perhaps into missouri.

your job is very very complicated and seems to have many issues on things...your patience is amazing.

I just called home to wish my granddaughter a happy 4th birthday and got some details on the effects from Ike. My wife said that at one time 99% of Galveston Island was underwater and apparently the downtown area of Houston is being hit harder than most of the outskirts. I was also told that the Galleria in Houston is flooding.

I also have seen on the internet that there are flood warnings for southeastern Oklahoma, though it looks like the part of Oklahoma where my family is, should be ok.

Thanks for the compliment on my patience, I guess I have gotten to have lots of practice. Though sometimes I wonder if I really have enough for the job with all of its different aspects which try to stress me out.
