OK, I have been home for a little over a week now, though most of the time it has been a case of hoop jumping deluxe!

Hey there! Glad you made it home from your travels and then your additional travels. Sounds like your 4th was a success, in spite of the fireworks (which I hate, anyway). You mentioned your mortgage ... if I remember right, you finished paying that off, right? So the improvements are gravy for you. That's awesome.

I'm sorry to hear about your son's friend and his brother. That is very sad, and I will pray for peace for their family. I'm glad your son isn't going to Iraq, but I know that Afghanistan is scary as well. I will pray for his safe return when he deploys. And yes, your son and his wife are both beautiful and would have beautiful children. I hope you are soon a proud grandpa-to-be.

In reply to your question, yes my mortgage is paid off now. We actually managed to pay it off 15 months early. So of course now that I don't have mortgage interest, I need some other way to give my money to the general economy instead of the federal reserve board. The siding is definitely a win-win (and maybe even an additional win) since it will improve the value of my home, save me from having to paint the outside again, keep its good look longer than the painted wood could do, and last but not least, have better insulation so make for reduced energy consumption with the economic and environmental advantages that entails.

As far as my son being good looking, I think I was blessed with some very good genes. Not only is he physically attractive, but he also is very intelligent. His wife is also very smart so I am sure that their kids would be awesome! But then again I may be a bit prejudiced. I am convinced that when they get around to having children, that the kids would be brilliant and beautiful. :)
