Weeee, this trip is now officially half over! Considering the past few days, I am more than ready for it to be over as well. Work continues to be challenging in that we our resources for the amount of data we are processing, the intense processing flow we have and some less than optimal setup by my opposites and the bizarre byte gremlins I ( Read more... )

Wow. Sorry about the back. BE VERY CAREFUL. Backs are nothing to mess around with. The treadmill can be very effective exercise, so don't discount it too much. An hour on a treadmill with varying intensities may be just what the doctor ordered.

I know how much grief back issues can cause. This morning was another day when I thought I might need a crane to get out of my bunk. Ever since the first time I threw my back out, I have noticed that it becomes easier to do each time since. There are times I wish I had someone else's broken leg and they had my back problems because I figure I can get over a broken leg!

I know the treadmill can be good and effective exercise. When I am home, my primary source of exercise is walking, it can be cardio and it is definitely low impact.

Take care of yourself ... perhaps some very careful back stretches?

I think a professional maseusse should be a part of every crew. :) A whirlpool might also be an appropriate piece of equipment for the welfare commitee to purchase from the ship's welfare fund.
