AWESOME MOVIE: MONSTERS VS. ALIENS

Apr 12, 2009 21:03

I just went and saw Monsters vs. Aliens, expecting a fun and funny movie with monsters battling aliens and I wouldn't have to think. BUT I WAS WONDERFULLY WRONG! Why?

THE ENTIRE MOVIE WAS A METAPHOR FOR FEMINISM! (WITH POCAHONTAS SPARKLE TEXT!)

I will be spoiling the entire movie here, so please be careful.

FEMINISM! )

yeah feminism yeah!!!, movies, epic win, monsters versus aliens

......your spoilers have succeeded in intriguing me in a movie that I had originally written off from the commercials as being something that would inadvertently piss me off ("Oh, sure, everyone else is a hideous blob or an insect, but the token female is hot and normal-looking, she just gets TALL") -- an impression that persisted even after a friend told me she was the main character, gasp, a female lead.

SO, GOOD JOB. You have effectively countered the worst fucking ad campaign in the history of the world. I think they were counting on you to sell their movie.

It was so funny and enjoyable. Like seriously, the examples I provided were just the tip of the iceberg of the awesomeness of this movie. It's completely worth your time.

Really? Do you think they'd pay me to write a fancy essay on the feministic undertones? Because I almost want to just for the hell of it.
