A cold breeze ran through my thin jacket and made me shiver. Mikey noticed and wrapped his arms around me, whispering sweet nothings that made me melt. Hey, don’t give me that, I’m a girl too. I can like the kisses, the roses, and the dreamy gazes from time to time.
The past few months had been amazing, finally getting to be alone with my new husband. I swear, I'd had a permanent smile from the moment I said, “I do.”
It seemed things couldn’t get any better, and for a while, I felt everything was just perfect. Felt my life was just perfect. Not many girls get to say that. I guess I was just lucky enough to find someone like Mikey. We stood like that, just listening to the muffled sounds of Linkin Park coming from the massive arena. Earlier, we had watched My Chem perform. Of course they were phenomenal.
Our mouths fell open and we busted out laughing when Frank nearly knocked down Gerard while ravishing him with sloppy kisses. Bob seemed lost in his own world, Ray looked like a god, and I joked about how Matt was a much better bassist than Mikey could ever be, though it was far from the truth. He stuck his tongue out and slapped my ass playfully. I yelped at the sting and I put on my cutest pout asking him for a kiss to make it better. By then we had completely forgotten about what we were “fighting” about.
The show ended in an explosion of fire and I was a bit bummed that we couldn’t get a better view from the sidelines. Mikey got a text message then on his sidekick, telling us to wait outside the tour bus, which led us to where we were: in the cold. The perfect place for cuddling, how convenient.
I wrapped my arms around his thin waist and rested my head on his shoulder. He jumped when I nuzzled my cold nose into his skin, so I buried my face deeper in the crook of his neck, kissing it and whispering, “I love you.”
“MIKEY WAAAAAY!” Gerard arrived in a streak of white and nearly crashed the golf cart he was driving into the tour bus. He got off before even fully braking and ran over to us, grinning like a madman, tackling Mikey with all the love the world. They hugged and kissed and told each other how much they had missed the other. I smiled at the cute brotherly love. How can you not love those Ways?
Another white golf cart arrived, at a much calmer speed, and parked next to the first. Frank jumped out, his grin matching Gerard’s. Bob, Ray and Matt followed suit. Mikey made to detach himself from Gerard, but to no avail, so he just shrugged and continued to hug his brother, who wore a very serious face as he whispered into his ear. Their words were hushed, but their expressions spoke volumes. They seemed pained and for a moment I got the worst vibes, though I couldn’t quite put my finger on why.
I couldn’t hear them over the “We missed you guys” and muffled, blissful laughter through hugs, but now, I wish I had. I wish that I had been able to stop what was about to happen. Instead, I just shrugged off those chills and blamed it on the cold.
At some point, Mikey managed to pry off Gerard, who then turned to me. He held my face in his hands and told me I was beautiful. I couldn’t help but blush and give a modest sounding, “Oh stop…” Though I always loved the compliments he showered on me. He pecked my cheek and we hugged. Gerard had to be the best hugger in the world, even covered in sweat and smeared black eyeliner, and possibly Frank’s saliva too.
Over Gerard’s shoulder I saw Ray give Mikey a fierce bear hug, nearly lifting him up. Then it was Frank’s turn and he literally did pick him up and swing him around a bit. He let go and before Mikey could compose himself, and Bob threw an arm around his shoulders and pounded his back so hard, his body rocked forward. He smiled that cute, shy smile I love.
Gerard let go of me, still looking at me straight in the eye, asking me about how everything was going, with me replying, “Everything’s just perfect.” And I truly thought it was.
