Chapter 1 Rose watched as the American man turned his back and left, before hearing the words that the other man spoke. "The last President of America." She couldn't believe what was happening, but was grateful that the dimensional cannon started working just in time for another alien invasion, which she was going to have to stop on her own.
The man muttered something about a private plane, turned and looked Rose directly in the eyes. "Well, well. Who are you?"
"Rose Tyler," the blonde responded, not loosening her grip on the gun. "Who the hell are you?"
The Master eyed this blonde haired angel who seemed to come out of nowhere, walking around her slowly as he spoke. "Some may call me Harold Saxon. Some may call me their worst nightmare. Others call me the Master."
Rose scoffed at the man, rolling her eyes as he introduced himself to her. "And I'm just going to call you Egotistical."

The Doctor looked onward at what was happening before his eyes, and clenched his teeth together. If the Master touched Rose, even an innocent little flick of his finger against her jacket as if he was brushing away a piece of dirt from it, he'd make a break for it, perception filter be damned. But all that he did was watch. He knew that if the Master found out that she was one of his, he'd have her locked away like Martha's family. Or killed on the spot, whichever one he was in the mood for at the moment. There was nothing he could do; it was all in Rose's hands now.

"Oooh, and feisty, too. I like that in a companion," the Master commented.
"Companion? As in..." Rose trailed off for a moment. There was no way that this could have been happening to her. Here she was, looking for one Time Lord, completely different from this one standing before her, and found the insane one instead.
"Ever heard of an ancient race called Gallifreyans, Rose?" the Time Lord asked her, awaiting her response. When she said nothing, he chuckled at her silence. "Time Lords, perhaps, you might be familiar with?"
The blonde swallowed hard, and followed his face. Wherever he went, she made sure not to lose eye contact with him. Torchwood had taught her that much - never break eye contact with a capturer. But when the Master asked her about Time Lords, Rose knew that he had to have known about her. "Where is he?" she asked.
The insane man looked at Rose in a fit of fake surprise. "He who, exactly?"
"The Doctor," the young woman responded.

"No, Rose. Don't do it," the Doctor pleaded with her from where the trio stood while both Jack and Martha bit down on the inside of their lower lips, worried.
"Too late, Doctor. I think she already did it," Jack responded, listening carefully to what was being said.
"What now?" Martha asked.
"We wait. Either she's going to be imprisoned, or killed," the lanky Time Lord answered. "We wait to see what he does."

"Oh, ho ho! This, right here, is brilliant. You see, Rose, the Doctor and his little band are public enemies one, two, and three, which now makes you public enemy number four. Unless..." the Master grinned evilly. "You come with me quietly. You'll get to see your Doctor again. So which is it? You can either go play a game of hide-and-seek, or come with me."
Rose weighed the options carefully before making her decision. This was something that she wasn't expecting to deal with. On one hand, she could be killed by persons unknown. On the other, he did say that she'd be able to see her Time Lord again.
Before she could announce her choice, a police van pulled up, and three people - two women and one man - came out of the back, struggling against the men who held onto them. The Master was the one to break the eye contact away from the blonde, and made his way over to welcome the new comers that he had captured. Once the guards had loaded them onto the plane, the insane man looked back over to Rose, walking towards her.
"So which is it going to be? Come with me, or that?" he asked her.
Rose took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "I'll come with you."

"Oh my god," Martha said, looking as if she wanted to run and help her family.
"Don't, Martha," the Doctor responded, despite his companion's protests. "Don't move. You can't risk us and Rose, just to save your family."
"I'm going to kill him," the black haired young woman said, watching her mother, father, and sister struggle against the guards that held onto them.
"I say we use this perception filter to walk up behind him and break his neck if he tries to hurt Rose," Jack commented, obviously angry with the Master.
The Time Lord looked over toward the immortal man. "Now that sounds like Torchwood."
"It's still a good plan," Jack retorted.
"He's a Time Lord, which makes him my responsibility," the Doctor said firmly. "I'm not here to kill him. I'm here to save him, and now Rose."

The Master laid a hand on Rose's gun that she still gripped firmly in her hands. "Put it down, and we can be on our way."
"I'm not leaving it behind," the blonde responded firmly. She was ready to kill at a moment's notice.
"Rose, my darling, my angel, my little rosebud. You really don't want to try my patience right now," was his reply. Not that he had them, anyways.
"I'm not your darling, or your angel, or your rosebud," she said, her eyes narrowing at the Time Lord. Rose rolled her eyes and placed the gun down on the concrete. Her only hope now, it seemed, was that the Master kept up his end of the deal and let her see the Doctor again.
"Good girl," the Master said with a smirk as if praising a lap dog as he held his hand out towards her.
She looked defeated, as if she just lost the biggest battle in her lifetime, next to the little incident between the Daleks and Cybermen, but took the man's hand silently as they started walking together towards the plane, looking behind her at the gun she laid on the ground.

Jack fiddled with his vortex manipulator, trying to find out information about the Valiant. "Aircraft carrier Valiant, it's a UNIT ship. Fifty-eight-point-two north by ten-point-oh-two east."
Martha looked up at the Doctor. "So how do we get on board?" she asked.
"Jack?" the Doctor asked as he watched Rose lay her gun down on the ground.
"Huh?" Jack responded.
"Does that thing work as a teleport?"
"Since you revamped it, yeah. Coordinates set."
The lanky Time Lord took Martha by the wrist, placing her hand down on the vortex manipulator that Jack was holding out in front of the Doctor before placing his own hand on it, covering Martha's. The trio watched as the blonde took the insane Time Lord's hand, and was leading her towards the plane before they disappeared onto the Valiant.
There was a fit of groaning as they arrived in what seemed to be a boiler room of sorts, all of their bodies ached from traveling throughout the vortex without the TARDIS to protect them. Jack got to his feet and gave his neck a twist, while everyone else broke away from him.
"That thing is rough!" Martha exclaimed, grabbing her head until the feeling like she was going die passed.
"I've had worse nights," the immortal said. "Welcome to the Valiant."
The young woman made her way over towards where a window was, and stared out of it. "If this is a ship, then where's the sea?"
"Ships are the twenty-first century, protecting the skies of planet Earth," Jack answered her, with both he and the Doctor moving towards where she stood, looking outside.
It was massive with its multiple airstrips, planes already taking off and landing on it, as the base took its place among the skies.

The Master and Rose had boarded the plane that would take them up to the UNIT ship, and while the Master tried to get more information out of her, she wouldn't crack - just doing exactly what Torchwood had trained her to do.
They stood in front of a door now. A door that at any moment would open to the conference room of the Valiant. The insane Time Lord stood behind Rose, and body guards stood on either side of them, as if he wanted her brown eyes to see the space first.
The door slid open, and the Master leaned down, moving some of the blonde's hair out of the way so he could whisper in her ear.
"Welcome to the Valiant, Rose Tyler."
