Author's Notes: Really AUish. Inspired by both this fanvid, and three of my closest friends.

Rose couldn't take it anymore. She lost the one man that she truly loved in her twenty-two years of life - not once, but twice. The first Doctor that she traveled with - the one with the big ears and devious grin - had regenerated into the second - the one that looked like a beanpole and had a dashing smile - which she ended up professing her love to.

She got a job with Torchwood in the alternate world in the alternate London, and her biggest project since she started there was to work on a dimensional cannon. For a year and a half she worked on it, and finally, it was ready to use. It was a one shot chance to get Rose to her real home.

As Rose started flipping switches, the machine started up. It shone a bright light against the wall, the same one that she was trapped against when the alternate version Pete had saved her from actually going into the void. Rose walked up towards it, longing to touch it, to see if it still felt the same, to see if she could feel the Doctor on the other side of the wall in the real Earth. But she stopped a few inches short of the wall and stared at it, feeling the same emotions that she did during that time, except now, they were mixed with excitement and happiness.

There wasn't much that Rose had to take with her for the trip. No, this was so much more than just a trip. This was her destiny. She traded in the pink hooded jacket that she wore out for a purplish-blue leather one, which had her mobile and TARDIS key in the pocket.

Then it happened. The cannon had splintered the wall, letting a tiny bit of the time and space vortex to come through. The blonde sprinted to her cupboard, and took out a notepad to write to her mates, telling them that she did it, and that she was sorry that they couldn't all go over together, but it was a one shot chance, and she was taking it.

"Tyler!" barked a guard. "Don't forget to take this," The husky guard said, thrusting a huge gun in her direction. Rose stared at it for a moment, then put on her jacket and looked towards the wall, which had opened the vortex more. Were things on the real Earth that bad now, or was the guard just being helpful and protective? Rose didn't answer those questions to her mind as she quickly strapped the band that was attached to the gun across her body, and looked towards the vortex. It was fully ready for her to take the leap from one world to the next. Rose picked up the paper that she wrote her note on and gave it to the guard.

"Tell them goodbye for me, will you?" she asked. The guard nodded, and left her alone to cross over. This was it. Rose took one step, then another, and another, until she reached the vortex. Her eyes sparked with excitement and happiness as she looked into it. Rose turned around, and looked at the empty room. It was just her and the cannon now. Her friends were out chasing down the leftover cybermen that didn't make it over those eighteen months ago to destroy them. She tried telling them that only the Doctor could possibly help, and that as soon as she found him, they’d travel together to the alternate dimension once more to rid it of the cybermen, but they didn’t listen. Her mates never believed the stories about the Doctor, anyways.

Some second thoughts came to mind, but Rose shook her head, trying to get rid of them as best she could. Jackie, Mickey, Jake, and Pete knew that this day was going to come sooner or later, and it was just best for them not to know right now. She’d call them on her own mobile, her 'super phone', and speak with them once she crossed over and the vortex was closed permanently, leaving them apart forever, or until Torchwood came up with another way to cross dimensions - whichever came first.

Rose looked back at the vortex now, all of time and space right before her very eyes. She wouldn't be trapped in this dimension for much longer. She walked right into it, knowing full well that reality itself could be in turmoil now, yet she continued walking. Her eyes searched down, up, and all around her, looking for some sort of sign that the TARDIS was here, but there wasn't anything. The void was being passed over now, and still no sign of the Doctor. The other side of the vortex approached now, and Rose ran towards it, anxiously waiting for this for a long time.

But when she made that leap, it was nighttime where she landed. Two men stood in front of her - one spoke with an American accent, the other, British. Rose knew that she had made it, finally. The blonde gripped tighter to the gun, but didn’t say a word, not one word.

The Doctor watched as Rose appeared right before his eyes. Surely this must have been a dream. Or something was wrong with the perception filter, because he knew that he left the blonde trapped in the parallel world with her friends and family. As much as the Time Lord wanted to run and embrace her, there was nothing he could do. If he did, the spell would be broken and it would give all three of them away. "Rose," he said quietly, turning to the immortal man. "It's Rose."

Jack's eyes nearly bugged out of his skull when he saw a flash of blonde hair appear. There was only one person (that he knew of, anyways), and that was Rose. He too, wanted to go and embrace his best friend, after the Doctor got done with his hug, of course. When the Doctor spoke to him, he looked over at the man, and smiled. "I know, Doc. But she can't see us."

Martha was the only one who didn't seem as entranced by Rose as she looked to over towards both men. "Who the hell is she?" she asked, a slightly confused expression overtaking her features.

Both men looked towards one another and started grinning like loons. "Rose. Rose Tyler," the Doctor said his grin wider than Jack's, but quickly faded. "My," he swallowed hard. "Former companion. She must have done this for me, to find me."

"I don't see what's so special about her," Martha countered. "A blonde with a gun, who just happened to pop out of time and space."

"A really big gun," Jack said. "You know, Doc, Rose looks pretty hot with it."

"And you know how much I hate guns, Jack," the Time Lord retorted.

Rose continued to listen in on the conversation that was taking place between the two men, and an eyebrow arched on her forehead as the word 'Toclafane' was brought up. Were they some kind of aliens? And if they were, where was the Doctor at to put a stop to this?

"I guess with no Doctor around, I'll have to put a stop to this," she muttered under her breath. "Defender of the Earth, like always." The word 'televised' caught her attention, and blonde haired swayed slightly as Rose shook her head.

"What's she shaking her head over?" Martha asked. "It's only the Master. If she's so special to you, she'll be able to handle herself."

The Time Lord stared straight ahead at the back of Rose's head. "That's exactly what I'm afraid of."
