Without speaking Dean removed the pillows from under Sam’s head letting Sam’s body lay flat on the lumpy springs and Sam felt the scratchy blankets being pulled up over his naked flesh

That was so good. Bittersweet, but with a measure of hope. And yeah, I bet Sam can see Garth's wisdom in getting rooms with hottubs now. Although, he probably wouldn't be able to climb outta that, either. :-P
Very true to life and I loved the reference to how long Sam's existence, in one place or another, has lasted. It's enough to wear you out just thinking about it.
