The branch must have nicked an artery on either its way in or out and Dean could have kicked himself for needing his injured brother to point that out - just how stupid was he?
Shit …Dean tried to push his self-bashing aside and think - what did he have that could put a stop to this bleeding

My love for you? It is EPIC. It is bigger than Epic -- This is perfect and I was biting my fingernails the whole time! My heart was pounding bc I got so nervous! Great Job!!!
This was wonderful and I LOVED the idea of Dean having to clamp an artery!
You crammed in plenty of hurt Sam as well as supportive and trusting Sam! I loved Dean's determination here as he pushed through his own fear as well as Sam's cries of pain in order to save his brother's life.
And what a lovely touch that Dean used a memory of his Dad and Caleb to help him through the crisis.
Thank you so much for tackling this prompt, you did an awesome job! Take care, :)
This was really cool, just from the first aid info, and also pretty darn scary. You must really do your research. I loved how Sam knew right from the start he was in trouble, and knew in the back of his head what the worst possible thing to do would be, and then did it anyway because he's human. I loved that Dean had that moment worrying about sterilizing the hemostat and his hands before poking around in the bloody hole. And I'm definitely going to remember that tip about feeling around for the artery.
Uh oh -- certainly don't take my medical advice for anything, I'm hardly and expert -- I made most of this up for the sake of drama. But, thanks for reading this -- I really appreciate the feedback! :)
