Tall guys constantly get roped into changing light bulbs when shorter humans would need to get a ladder -- like the bulbs in the twelve-foot kitchen ceiling at Jess's parents' house.
Sam really should have known better than to stand on a swivel chair to do it.

"Hey, Sam, one of the bulbs in the kitchen chandelier just went out, and none of us feel like going downstairs to get the ladder. Would you mind

"Yeah. I always knew you were smart," she replies, with a chiming laugh. He can't compose a reply, just steps up on the chair and grabs the new bulb Jess passes to him.
It's good that this is going to be a quick operation, because his balance isn't that great on a chair that rolls from side to side whenever he twitches. Before he has time to worry about it, the busted bulb is already unscrewed and in his hand, and the new one half into its socket.
"This is why I keep you around, not your brains. So much easier than having to go get a ladder." Sam chuckles, finishes up, and moves to step down.
The wheels roll across the polished hardwood floor.
His arms wheel madly, and he tries to grab at the light fixture, but he can't reach, because he's falling.
"Sam!" Jess screams, because he's just smashed into the granite counter headfirst, and that really fucking hurt. He lands on the floor, right on his shoulder, and flops down heavy. "Sam!" she screams again. It's suddenly incredibly bright, and he shuts his eyes

I love how "he's happy to do it, because no one else can." That's just too adorable. Poor Sammy, all bloody and with amnesia. Even the simple things do him in.

I will be updating soon, hopefully tonight :D Sorry for the massive delay! School has sort of blown up in my face and I've had no time, but tonight seems to be my night off.

Sam smiles dizzily up at Jess, because his vision is going black and blurry, and he can't feel the throbbing as much. Even though he knows that this is most definitely a bad sign, it's much better than the pain. "My head hurts. Where are we

Yay, love the update! No worries about the delay - it's worth waiting for, and we all know how RL gets maddeningly in the way of the important things (like writing :-P).

Bwahaha, YES! Sam is so much more cheerful about this stuff than my brother. You've got me on the edge of my seat. I can just -- see -- the catastrophe -- Oh, and I LOVE the title.
