I find it kind of funny how JJ can go from being kind of hated for this to absolutely loved for star wars, at least by fandoms, I know mainstream audiences probably don't care.

i'm in the both the tumblr trek fandom and the star wars twitter fandom and the dissonance is insane. SW twitter loves the Abrams Trek movies.

personally, speaking as someone who is a star wars fan before they are a trek fan, I will drag JJ and those movies until the day I die. STID in particular was an absolute dumpster fire.

JJ himself has admitted to being more of a Star Wars guy than a Star Trek guy, and it shows in the Star Trek movies he's done.
