because he changed his tune over the course of a couple of weeks, from being willing to get arrested to deciding to keep quiet

Gotcha. Sorry, I didn't know to which part you were referring lol. Idk if he actually will keep quiet though, I mean, he is so outspoken always and he's so close to this subject. Isn't his husband from Russia as well? It'll be interesting to see what he actually does.

i don't think you're insane for having concerns, but i seriously doubt anything is going to happen, not with the international community's focus locked on sochi for 16 days. the russian government has the means to make this run very smoothly.

I felt annoyed but then I felt like it's his choice to do what he wants, so I stopped feeling annoyed...THEN I read the part where he said he was willing to be arrested? Now I'm just annoyed again.

"you have to respect the culture of a country you are visiting."

Uhm, no.

I swear this was the exact same excuse celebs were using in the 1980s when they'd go perform in South Africa during apartheid.

I mean, it's ridiculous. Are they trying to cover up their cowardice with this nonsense in hopes of sounding wise and sympathetic? Sad.
