I know. But TMJ procedures can be risky, so it's hard to imagine they would allow that. Plus, TMJ procedures occur in a completely different area of the body.
Eh, my bf is a surgeon and he says that if you're under and you can get it all done at once, that is far more preferable...every time you go under anaesthesia is dangerous, so if he wanted his chin done, they probably included it. I asked because if I'm going under for plastic surgery, i'm going for the gold LMAO
I had TMJ surgery and had them suck out fat from under my chin--they wanted to redo my nose because they could've listed it as a necessary procedure, but I like my nose.
Don't do it. It will make EVERYTHING worse and 100x more painful. You'll have the same disc displacement issues you've been having but now with the fun added value of scar tissue.
Don't do it. Seriously. The success rate is sooooo low, even with the best doctors in the country.
Don't agree to any of the surgeries (I've had them all). At best, they provide extremely temporary relief. But more often than not, they aggravate the issue and make it worse in the long run by allowing for the buildup of scar tissue.
Do you mind me asking if anything has helped? I can't open my jaw all the way, my right side shifts out of the socket. I sleep with a nightguard which mitigates most of the pain at night, but i still have a very stiff and aching jaw during the day. I don't know what ot do at this point.
Nothing I've tried has helped. I've had a number of TMJ surgeries (at least 9), as well as various other procedures. None has been successful. Honestly, you're just going to have to learn to live with it. I've found that doing nothing (aside from eating soft foods when necessary) has helped the most. I don't even use a night guard.
I'd really like a nose job.
