2x11: The Drugs Don't Work Paul encourages Jimmy to seek help. Brian and Derek take Sean to look for a new place. Gaby struggles with her guest list for Thanksgiving.
i have a soft spot for alice as a character, but her being mad that jimmy wants nothing to do with louis is driving me nuts. jimmy is well within his rights to not want to have any relationship with him whatsoever, but it feels like the show is veering toward the toxic levels of "forgive everyone, no matter how much they hurt you!" that ted lasso hit at at the end. i hope it doesn't go the way i'm expecting in the finale.
also felt like the gaby and derek 2 breakup kinda came out of nowhere, like we were missing an episode there.
agreed on gaby, and that's a good point about louis' response. i think i'm wary because there's been some weird instances this season of the whole group ganging up on someone to make them change their mind (the brian baby plot being a big one), but i do hope alice gets a reality check in the finale.
Idk how I feel about this season. I loved season 1 but I feel like season 2 has taken a turn for the “this is us” dramatics, even recycling plot lines between characters sometimes in the same season. Everyone’s inability to communicate / the constant stream of shit happening kind of breaks my ability to suspended disbelief.
Derrick #2 and the home health care nurse were both out of line for the way they talked to Gaby. Alice is also acting insane - to be so pissy at Jimmy for not wanting to help Louis feel better like are you kidding me.
And at this point they're the characters that feel the most grounded and realistic but the scene between Jimmy and Paul at the end still felt unearned.
This show is an emotional minefield for me!!! Especially with the Louis story line...my sister died in an at fault car crash, and her gf's sister died too. Annie's (gf's) family was so damn good to my family and my family were very homophobic and shitty about her relationship even after her death. I wonder how a family could lose someone so dear and still show my family support. It's been 17 years and I think about the grace they showed often.

Alice was way out of line, but based on Louis’ own response later in the episode I don’t think the show’s writers were saying she was correct.

It isn't a perfect show, but I've made that call and I cried.
