I try to be, but I am also extremely selfish. I feel like if I had kids, I would be the father from the movie Force Majeure and abandoning my family the second I sensed danger.

I feel like my selfishness makes me resistant at first but I've gotten good at pushing past that and doing the kind thing. Still too selfish and impatient for children though for sure.

I try really hard to be but I often feel like I'm failing. I have a close friend across the country that simultaneously is going through a divorce and was in the hospital with a really big health scare, and I feel like I'm not doing enough to support her. I wish I lived close to just come over and be with her or run errands for her, but I wish there was more I could do from afar other than calling her often.
