Saoirse Ronan takes a walk down memory lane as she rewatches scenes from her classic works including 'Atonement,' 'Lady Bird,' 'The Grand Budapest Hotel,' 'Hanna,' 'Little Women,' and 'Blitz

Greta is such a fraud little women and lady bird were so bad and simplistic and made for the masses which is fine but the way she tried to portray herself as this indie filmmaker girl stop
I feel like I’m missing something because I didn’t like Brooklyn :( It wasn’t bad, but it was a very middling movie to me. I think people praised it too much, so that when I finally saw it (just the other week!) I was let down.
That said, I did like Saoirse Ronan in Lady Bird and Little Women!
It’s not just you, I remember watching Brooklyn when it came out and feeling underwhelmed. I gave it a second chance recently and still felt underwhelmed. I don’t know, it felt like it was missing something, like it needed to be more emotional or more epic. It was just okay to me :/
I love her so much. Her performances in Atonement and Brooklyn might be my favorites of hers, although Lady Bird is up there too.
It hurts me to say it but I feel like she was not a good Jo March. I didn't like Greta Gerwig's Little Women all that much (the 1994 version is THE adaptation and the one I grew up on), but Saoirse is almost too pretty and delicate to have been Jo.
You don’t think Winona was too pretty and delicate? I prefer the 90s version too, but I liked the new version too. Can’t stand Uma and Ethan Hawkes spawn as Jo in the miniseries tho lol
Weirdly enough even though I believe Winona is one of the most beautiful women in the world, I don't really find her that way in her portrayal of Jo. Something about the way she's styled and her body language feels more believable as the tomboyish Jo than what Saoirse was doing. I really feel like it is one of those roles Winona was born to play. Maybe it's the difference in direction and writing too. I think Gillian Armstrong is a much better director than Greta.
I've only seen clips of Maya Hawke as Jo and yikes lol
Also as someone who saw the entire 2017 Little Women (the one with Maya Hawke as Jo) it was garbage. I couldn't believe how bad she was. In general I think I am just not a fan of her acting but particularly in that role she was awful.
I enjoyed Little Women in the theaters on Christmas morning. it was sorta decent but could’ve been miles better 🥲
The OG 90s movie remains superior in every possible way. Like… it’s almost impossible to emulate the magic, obviously. everything was so in tune there whereas this version felt a lackluster somewhere if that makes sense
