MCR face backlash over ticket prices

Nov 18, 2024 08:59

Earlier this month, the band dropped a cryptic teaser image, with many fans wondering if they may finally be getting some new music. Other than a surprise song release back in 2022, they've been more of a touring act than anything and fans have been thirsty for some new tracks or information ever since. To some fans delight and some's ( Read more... )

i was in and out before i even noticed any dynamic pricing so i was surprised about all the complaints.

i'm too old and short to even consider being in the pit or floor seats, so i just picked the best $200 seats at the skydome (whatever it's called).

hopefully whatever the swifties are doing in that ticketmaster lawsuit will work out.

It wasn't that bad? I paid 5x more for worse seats to see Bey so this was very fair pricing to me.

Damn they’re playing Roger’s Center. I didn’t realise they were still so big.

And I think that lawsuit got dropped. Unfortunately.

it would have sold out immediately too if tickets were a little cheaper. the 200s up were gone right away (and some back up for resale).

unfortunate about the lawsuit. if swifties couldn't get it done, no one could.

after a certain amount the artist is just getting fat off their fanbase and that's fucked up.

10 years ago i paid $450 to see one direction front row at a stadium and i don't regret a single cent but oof thinking about how much that would have cost on 2024's prices? wouldn't be able to even if i wanted to

I got VIP tickets with a meet and greet and photo for One Direction and idk, I don’t remember too well, but I’m pretty sure I paid less than what people are paying for these regular MCR tickets 😵‍💫

It’s insane not to turn off dynamic pricing, what the fuck

I paid $200 for lower bowl tickets for the eras tour, I had fun but that was my first and last stadium concert. I’d maybe do an arena for an act i adore but doesn’t seem likely

I've never been to a stadium tour but they just... don't see very fun? Maybe it's because I'm borderline legally blind and 5'1 lol, but a venue that size just seems so huge and impersonal to me, like I'd just be squinting all night (and that's IF someone tall doesn't block my entire view!). Even ampitheaters kinda suck if you're not in the first few rows!

Yeah the eras tour was such a spectacle and it’s of course so loud you feel connected and present to the music but it pushed the limits of what I’m willing to do for both money and the environment, for 99% of shows I want a 4K max capacity and the ability to be 12 ft away from an artist if I buy a floor ticket lmao

I got so lucky seeing hozier in a tiny venue in 2014 in Colorado, mans was so close he had to make eye contact with me throughout the whole night lol. Now he just plays red rocks and I like that venue fine but it’s not the same and I would feel so removed if I saw him again

Dynamic pricing doesn't make any sense to me. When I got my ticket to see Depeche Mode, there was a $600 seat right next to a $3000 seat. They had the same VIP package. One was just a lot more expensive.

I usually got to rock/indie concerts, and the most recent ticket I bought for Interpol (tomorrow!) was around ~$80 iirc. Pre-pandemic they were closer to $50, so I did have a slight sticker shock lol.

Still, worth it. I dont mind paying more, but I generally refuse to go over $200 per ticket. I think I paid like $250 per for a Lana concert, but the stupid fuckin dynamic pricing was on, so they werent that much at face value. If the dynamic pricing was banned, it would help SO much.

Imma wait til the day of and see if any scalpers are trying to offload for MCR.

$200 is my absolute limit, too. I'm an idiot and paid those prices for my first few kpop concerts and I absolutely regretted it because the shows were boring af lol. I would've given $200 to see MCR, MAYBE $300 if I didn't have any major bills coming, but expecting people to pay these prices right before the holidays, in a time where inflation and the economy are the #1 topic of headlines, is crazy.

I feel you! Everglow was in my city recently, and I loved their debut, but decent tix were over $150. Absolutely not LOL. Maybe for Red Velvet or TVXQ.

And def true on MCR, I'm shocked at how high the face value prices were!!
