I mean, she's not wrong. One or two decent female characters in movies dominated by countless men just aren't really that engaging to me personally. So there's lots of 'classic' or great movies that I'm just not likely to ever see.

In the book it was very clear that what happened to the Osage was far beyond a few bad guys. It was the whole society (from doctors, neighbors, lawyers, the police, to people high in government) that destroyed that community. And justice never came for the majority of them.
He just wanted to focus on "flawed men" like he's used to.

I've seen it go from "Call him out!" to "He's focused on telling stories about how a lot of men are bad actually" to "If he were to make a movie about a woman people would complain he wasn't the right person to tell the story, so what's he supposed to do?" to "How DARE she criticise him!" to "She didn't mean any harm by it, she was just pointing out that he doesn't do movies with women, it was a factual statement" etc etc.
