I honestly don't wanna hear about celebs up and moving of the US now. Yeah she acknowledges her privilege but like idc lol. Cause they'll likely come back after everything is fixed~.

Also her complaining about the taxes and homelessness issues sound like a rich people complaint. Lol you could stay and help with local orgs about that homeless issue instead of living aboard....

Right lol. Thanks for abandoning us poors most of whom can’t just up and move while you as a rich person would live a great life in any country in the world. Meanwhile she should ask the poor people and the middle-class people in the countries she’s moved to how great their lives are, because the poor and the middle-class are struggling almost everywhere and her great life has to do more with her being rich than the country she lives in.

Like if you’re going to do it, just do it, but don’t lecture us about homelessness and taxes……

Yeah like I get that we'd up and move if we had the opportunity but also at the end of the day it doesn't solve anything lol.

And you make a REALLY good point about just cause you got to another nation that beneficial to YOU doesn't mean it's hunky dory for the actual citizens. A lot of places are probably better than the US rn but most people have complaining about their countries and facing facisist/far-right threats too.

Yeah, people think that in Europe everything is better, but my Muslim relatives in Europe desperately want to move HERE because they think it’s less Islamophobic here. Me, my siblings and my cousins who grew up in the U.S. are all also better educated and got good jobs vs. my cousins in Europe who weren’t encouraged by their teachers to pursue higher education due to their race and ethnicity and don’t make much money. They enter the Green Card lottery every year but I told my mom that if even they won they should probably stay where they are because they can’t afford to live here but my point is, there are pros and cons of every Western country. There is no country that’s a utopia and the far right is gaining power everywhere.

The homelessness huh. With all that money she could be helping but she'd rather be disgusted. Cool cool

tbh not that i am actually considering moving out of the country but one of the countries i was fantasizing about going to was mexico. i speak/understand enough spanish to get by. they actually elected a female president and abortion is legalized at a federal level. the us could never!!!!

yikes @ her comment about homeless people and taxes though. 😒 when people complain about homeless people i feel like it’s usually out of a “i don’t want to see them or be around them” mentality instead of a “wow the system has completely failed these people, how can we help?” mentality. i am constantly getting into arguments with people here in sf who believe the former. i am def more in the latter camp.

I get it

We have friends who have to move back to the US after two years here
And they're between rage and sadness

I understand the impulse to leave
But that's only possible for rich people who are not the most impacted by the situation

But also lbr, if any of us had her kind of money we'd all buy our way out

I talked to my fiance about cutting and running. It's less likely for us, and he's reluctant since he has a family that loves him, but we're both scared.
