This is very conflicting bc on one hand it sounds like a very conscious move in the right direction, but on the other hand I am disappointingly straight and touch starved and have been thinking about dating for a good while now. But finding a decent guy right now feels like such a big risk hence why this move seems more beneficial in the long run, at least for the time being

Tbh I don’t blame any straight woman who won’t go all in on 4B. Asking them to be celibate is a big ask. I don’t think there is a movement in the world that I would be 100% celibate for. Luckily, I’m bi and have options.

I'm glad you have those options. Thing is, I'm assuming the people joining the movement are likely much more experienced than I am with dating and wouldn't have found themselves so drawn to it if not for a need for more protectiveness and solidarity, while the climate with men is becoming increasingly more hostile. I don't want to come across as thinking i'll be an exception or whatever, I'm just a bit more comfortable with being kind of in the middle until I find myself having "been there done that" more.

People have the right to opt out of a social movement they don't want to participate in, but I do not think celibacy is a "big" ask. A lot of the pushback against not sleeping with men seems to be indicative of how many women find their value through being desirable to men. Mind you, the orgasm gap is a still a chasm and there are Reddit threads full of women complaining about experiences with sex where the man simply uses her body to masturbate, but abstaining from sex with men is a non-negotiable? Please!

I had hope (which was so foolish) an ex wouldn't show his assholery last week, but he always manages to prove me wrong. This ex is a MOC who is member of the DSA and leftist and all that jazz. He capes hard for white women who grew up wealthy or at least middle class, and he treats me (a WOC who grew up very working class) as though I was born into a billionaire family.
