I wrote a freaking essay on my Mass Effect experience and LJ wants me to break it down into who knows how many parts because of character limit. Ugh. Guess no one was going to read it all anyway.
I started Tears of the Kingdom. I’m still on the Sky Island at the beginning and have done 3 shrines but just running around now exploring and getting used to using the ultra hand
I'm playing Zelda Echoes of Wisdom and loving it. I like the style and that I can summon echoes who fight for me. I'm not so keen on the fight aspect of RPG games so that really works well for me.
BG3. BG3 forever. I kind of wish I'd done a dark urge for my first run because now I'm like noooo I can't be evil to you, I liked you in my other runs!
Veilguard players, what's the "talking to rats" status in your game? Because that's what sold me on BG3 and I am not even joking a little bit.
Hmm so far I haven’t had any options to talk to rats in the game or anything of the like in Veilguard. I think BG3 allowed a lot more freedom for the character to interact with their environment in different ways compared to Veilguard.
Considering BG3 is directly related to/inspired by D&D, it isn’t surprising there’s an option to talk to animals. It’s an actual spell in the D&D universe.
DA has never allowed you to talk to animals. You could interact with your dog or witness your dog’s interactions with others in DAO and DA2 but it was not like having actual conversations with them.
Still slowly trudging along through Dragon Age: Veilguard, and the more I play it the more of a mixed bag it becomes. It's probably the most mid game I've played since FFXVI, there are some aspects I like and other I really don't like.
[Mini Companion Rant (Minor spoilers? I have only finished Act 1)]Davrin and Emmerich are the only two companions I really enjoy, I pivoted from Neve to Davrin as my romance option and don't regret it one bit. I love Davrin's "serious but loving dog dad" vibe and the campy yet sophisticated nature of the mourn watchers are great

I have pretty much the exact same thoughts on companions. I would include Harding in my faves but idk if that's just because I love DA dwarf lore a whole lot. At first I was bummed that I didn't adore everyone but I also remembered that it probably took me a few playthroughs at least to really get to know characters from the previous games, as well as the fact that I don't actually love all the old companions either! Inquisition is the exception to the rule but I definitely avoid bringing people in my party in DAO and DA2 sometimes so... I hope I can grow to love them more as time goes on.
I like these companions more than Inquisition, but really the standouts have been Davrin and Emmrich, too. I also thought Lucanis would be more of a “meaty” character but :|
I’m so with you on Lucanis and Taash. It’s extra frustrating cause I did love Taash’s companion quest and their journey itself is well written but THEY are annoying me so much. Saying crap this, crap that, they act like a teenager and it’s not the vibe I want to hang around.

I really liked Echoes a lot - it was fun! I might go back and play it again after TOTK
