Is this the song her producer was referencing? It's cute.

I feel like her voice works a lot better with synth pop or soft folksier tracks, songs like this make me really notice how thin and weak her voice is. When I hear country songs with this type of arrangement, my brain wants it to have a real belter on it.

Sierra Ferrell can actually sing and is in a ton of genres except for pop (unless it's a collab), like Americana, y'allternative, country, folk, bluegrass, etc.

She would have killed this.. Evidence -

I don't think her voice is thin at all when she dips into her beautiful lower register

I would definitely consider this a thin/throaty and breathy tone, just with a lowered larynx. Nothing wrong with that, it works great with certain music! But in this setting and this arrangement, I fear the music kinda swallows her voice up (not in volume, but tonally). As far as country goes, I feel like a more Dolly-esque arrangement would sound great for her! But this new track almost sounds like Carrie Underwood-esque (uh minus the lesbianism LOLLL).

ETA: It's also worth nothing she may just be experiencing some vocal fatigue cuz I watched the SNL Pink Pony Club just now and noticed her voice sounded much less strong than in other performances I've seen!

Thumbs downing your take about "not doing a single thing that hasn't been done better" because you're wrong and your opinion is bad, but you're also wrong and your opinion is bad about her not being an "actual" drag performer

No one in their right mind is equating a Chappell Roan performance to negating niche public opinion re: drag performers and grooming accusations

Wow your comment just really sucks, I'm sorry

I don't get her appeal either. And if someone is downvoting you for that, they're a stan, and by definition unhinged.

Here's her weak cover of "Dreams" that youtube pushed on me....

i really thought she was gonna do "good luck babe" and then sing a new song, so i was really surprised when she did "pink pony club" the allure of doing THAT song on snl must've been so strong (and also the grammy campaign lol)

the new song is good, i'm glad there's already a live performance but i wanna hear what this sounds like as a studio recording
