Part of me thinks that 60% opacity Agatha was originally written as a post-credits reveal, but Jac wrote that bit into the show when she was told there wasn't going to be one lol
They're trying to make their shows/movies more 'standalone' and we've had what? 3-4 post credits that have been entirely dropped and wont be going anywhere anytime soon. They dont mean as much anymore.
I finished this last night, it was mostly solid but I thought the ending was weak and undermined some of the pluses of the show and the time gap between wandavision ending and this coming out was... excessive
Technically Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) is the stopgap between the two. But if I had to put money on why we waited so long, it would be because Feige & co. (1) severely underestimated The Scarlet Witch's popularity and (2) were too scared to potentially alienate audiences by plunging into the magic side of Marvel.
There's a reason AAA was the cheapest MCU project produced to date, and that's not just because of the actors' salaries.
i am not even sure the delay is that deep tbh, wandavision wrapped during the covid times which fucked up marvel’s production timeline generally, they were already committed to a bunch of other shit, then there were the strikes, and at some point in the past couple years amidst all these external factors marvel had a come to jesus moment regarding the pace of their output bc people were becoming less patient with all their incredibly underbaked projects… it’s been a messy time. (and then i think they most likely could have had it out earlier by a couple months but wanted it to air in spooky season)
That's a really good point, tbh! I guess factoring in everything you said, the wonky release schedule makes a lot more sense. (Still sucks, but makes sense lol)
I was bugged that we didn’t get a Jen centric episode. I wanted to know more about her life prior to the road. And they used one throwaway line and handwaved her story away.
I think Marvel is VERY scared right now of post credit scenes. We've had so many that have been dropped now in recent years due to them changing plans.
I wonder if their issue is how long it takes to put a lot of their projects out to market these days. I remember doing my MCU marathon and I liked how whatever movie was before Civil War had an end credits scene exactly from the actual Civil War movie itself. Everything felt well-thought-out back in the day.
I wish you could've seen my face because I was like "Who is Jon Snow? Who is Starfox Styles?" before I remembered they were in the MCU LOL.
I don't know if Feige letting certain people direct certain sections of the MCU would work better now that it's not as small as it used to be (pre-Endgame, I feel like all the movies were working toward one end goal, and it was pretty siloed). Let Jac look after the magic. Let Ryan Coogler look after Black Panther. Let the dude who looks after Guardians do space. I know we don't like him, but let Taika look after Asgard (I liked Ragnarok a lot). Let the Black Widow director do our spies. etc etc etc. Maybe that's a way to go about it, IDK.
I just like the magic side now. Let me have theeeeem.

Jon Snow aint returning as Black Knight or whatever anytime soon.
Starfox Styles isnt appearing in any future films anytime soon.
They're completely ignoring the doppelgängers from whatshisname
its been like 5 years since Shang Chi and people likely forgot anything about that
