My mother told me she purposefully was not registered to any party, because my father tried to convince her to register Republican so she could vote the way he wanted. She told him absolutely not, and if he mentioned it again, she would leave. He never mentioned it again.

I’m actually am really sad that my mom isn’t around anymore to get a chance to vote for a woman again. She was heartbroken and in disbelief when Hilary lost, and before her death, she was hoping Harris would have been the 2020 candidate.

*and no this is not an invitation for anyone to tell me how horrible Clinton and/or Harris are, just me sharing a story about my mom whom I miss.

Yeah I saw some post about a women in her 80s voting for the possibly the first time cause her husband didn't want her voting.

My dude's mother "joked" anyone not voting Drumpf is out of her will. Meanwhile my flip-flopping father about got into it with our Dumper Uber driver on the way to our polling place. His political stances continue to baffle me. Carter to Regan to Sr. to Clinton to (I think) Gore to Harris (there were a few times he couldn't vote but was pro Obama)

It really is so fucking concerning that there needs to be a reminder about this. The amount of things I'm hearing and seeing about men forcing their s/o's to mail in votes so they can look over their shoulder, or men who feel betrayed when their s/o's vote differently than them, or women voting in secret? I know misogyny and patriarchy has always existed in this country but this is all so scary and dangerous
