Wait, I'm sorry. This film has a Nov 2026 release date? We haven't even got actual casting announcements? What in the Marvel production timeline...

Supposedly they started filming in August but who the fuck knows. It’s either hush hush or things are being delayed. Fingers crossed for Saoirse Ronan❤️

Greta is supposedly still writing it and they’re not going to start filming until January so I guess they delayed it

Wouldn’t it have been shot differently for IMAX anyway?

By now, you'd think all these auteurs would realize Netflix has no interest in big-scale film releases and they'd turn down the massive payday if they actually want to show in a theater. Emerald Fennell/Margot Robbie were offered $150 million by Netflix and instead went to WB for $70 million or something for the Wuthering Heights movie because Netflix said no theatrical release, and the next Knives Out won't be getting any theatrical release. What do directors/creatives expect?! The CEO has flat-out said their business model is streaming only.

Maybe it's too late for me to be commenting but this is what I'm struggling with. Why is she throwing all these spanners in the mix? Is it because streaming is too limited and she thinks her work deserves better? (Something something movies belong on big screens?) Is it because she just regrets the deal completely and is now trying to be difficult enough (but for the right reasons, like artistic ones) that they'll cut her loose without a penalty just to save themselves the headache? I don't know why she's having what I can only assume to be regrets about this project but right now it's just baffling to be watching this from the outside. But maybe I'm also just not cut out to be an auteur because if someone offered me an insane amount of money to make a movie for Netflix that is pretty much guaranteed to be a commercial success (or as much as one can be on a streaming platform) I'd enrol in filmmaking school yesterday. I really don't get it.

considering how much i liked lady bird when i saw it in theaters i’m just amazed every day at gerwig’s insistence on picking her projects based on what IP i personally am least interested in

I love Narnia but this is a lot for a movie that will probably be mid in terms of viewership

Feels like it would have been a better shout to do all the books as a tv series instead of another reboot of just TLTWATW unless she’s cramming everything into 2 films?
