Old folks are petty as fuck, and it just gets worse with age. They'll hold a grudge over the dumbest shit too. You didn't call them back in 2008? They'll remind you like it was yesterday. Borrowed a dollar in high school? They're adding up the interest like it's some loan they're never letting go of. Even taking the last piece of pie at Thanksgiving five years ago? They remember. In their world, that pie theft is a lifelong betrayal.

omg yes! going to visit my husband's hometown involves a minefield of who my in-laws are beefing with, have grudges against etc. One time we couldn't go to the local burger place because my FIL was mad at the owner (they're in the same hobby club). Like why are they this dramatic lol.

My partner’s family has a tradition of getting together in a pretty town in Ontario for Thanksgiving. In the fall especially it’s gorgeous there.
Well on the Sunday we all go out for breakfast or lunch. The one person pays and some of us reimburse her. No issue there. But last year my partner’s mom’s partner asked for milk twice then commented that he didn’t get the milk for his tea and this year we didn’t go out for breakfast because “it’s a small town and her reputation is at risk for bringing the partner w us because he said something about milk last time”
It was a big to do.

The one person who is upset is in her 80s.
