This video is so weird. It’s like she’s trying to serve both cool girl mysterious European cigarette chic juxtaposed with the most popular girl at Jefferson High School in Shit-town, Kentucky.

And the song. What is the THESIS

Everytime she “smoked” a cigarette I felt she had literally never even touched one before tbh.

It's ironic that in this age of Tiktok, the art of music video acting is dead. You'd think that the era of ubiquitous video would lend itself to better performances, but nope ahaha

I feel like that mix is her exact vibe tho and I fear for me... it kind of works.

TW:Pitting women against each other:

I find this more palatable/enjoyable and interesting than all of Tate Mcrae’s ~oeuvre~ and I’m still trying to articulate why.

It's actually funny cause they seem polar opposites even though they some similarities. Whereas Tate seems more maximalist in videos, Addison is more minimalist in her videos.

Both are dancers but Tate is clearly more trained and serious, whereas Addison is not as serioius or have refined~.

Addison probably has a winning formula cause of the simplicity approach to her songs.

I liked Greedy and I was looking forward to Tate’s follow up but she dropped the ball so hard with the follow-up album that she rushed to put out while Greedy was still at the top of the charts, it was so bad lol. Also, while neither Tate nor Addison are amazing singers, I think Addison’s tone is at least fine to listen to while everyone has complained Tate’s tone is too nasally and grating. And finally, I think Tate doesn’t have a firm grasp of her artistic identity while Addison and her team have a stronger grasp on what people want to hear from her.

To me there’s just literally not a single thing interesting about Tate McRae
