Stevie dropped some bombs in a great RS interview

“About 10 years ago, Katy Perry was talking to me about the internet armies of all the girl singers, and how cruel and rancid they were. I said, ‘Well, I wouldn’t know because I’m not on the internet.’ She said, ‘So, who are ( Read more... )

I mean, she did have a full on model army lead by Swift coming at her IRL so it was not just an internet thing for her unfortunately

Imagine getting clocked by Stevie like this in a conversation. If I was Katy, I'd melt into the floor

How very shady.

I was thinking about it but even if you take out Dr.Luke contribution, it's a pretty weak and super undercooked album. I don't know how she thought this would compete with the current pop girls.

Because the exact sound was a success almost 10 years ago, I don't think she was thinking of chappell roan or sabrina carpenter/taking them seriously and how receptive people would be to their sound redefining pop even though she did it herself at their age.

I think her biggest issue is that shes not catering to gen z, she's creating music millennials wanted to hear a decade ago/what she wants to hear. Gen z wants something different, Taylor was able to pivot her audience. Katy hasn't.

The lyrics are completely uninspired and undercooked, even for Katy, there are no memorable hooks or bridges, the production is adequate but outdated and generic, most of the guest verses are dire, and the vocals lack life. It's not even memorably bad, it's just bland and forgettable.
