I really hope they're freed with time served.

Same. They clearly had shitty parents who had no business themselves being parents. I think they served their time by now since it's been a whole ass 34 years for murdering objectively 2 awful people that not many seem to miss still to this day.

my mom is all annoyed because she thinks theyre just getting this because someone saw a documentary and she doesnt think that people should be convicted or released based on popularity and such. im like who do you think should be in their place? and she had no answer, just kept ranting about how this is not how the law should work, the law should be blind, etc and so on. basically anything i said was not to her satisfaction because it was people being swayed by popular opinion via media, rme

This is why I think some people (like your mom) get sucked into Q-anon theories cuz the cold hard facts ain’t enough.

That's absolutely how the law works. Public attention brings public pressure. Public pressure makes public figures act.

They've served more than enough time given what was done to them by their parents, but your mother is not completely wrong about the popularity thing. There are plenty of other people sitting in gaol who were convicted of crimes they didn't commit, and they're never going to see this kind of attention or be freed. I know some non-celebrity cases are re-examined later and people are exonerated, but certainly not enough.

They should be let out with time served. Their abuse was not considered at all when sentencing (or at least it def wasn't considered the way it would be now) and that should be rectified now.

Looking back it's pretty wild how the public and the media made fun of them when they spoke about it in great detail and how socially acceptable and almost "cool" it was to laugh at them and their pain. Very similar to Amber Heard when she spoke about her abuse. Gross.

If I'm remembering correctly, the prosecutor of the first trial said (cis) men couldn't be raped. Infuriating.
