- the judges keep rewarding Witney for choreographing routines that are 95% flashy lifts for her with barely any dancing for Danny
- jazz has become a catch-all category that is the equivalent of doing a freestyle (I feel similarly about the way they treat contemporary on this show)
- the ridiculous scoring that begins halfway through the season when 8 is the bare minimum no matter how badly the celeb dances or how little content is in their performance
I agree and I thought most of the dances were weak this time. By this point in the past, most of the celebrities seem to get in a groove and actually dance. I still see a lot of walking and posing.
Stephen seemed to be hanging on by his fingernails and Joey is still entertaining to watch, at least he knows how to sell what he's doing.
According to Wikipedia, he is a sell-confessed child abuser:
In October 2014, police in Cobb County, Georgia, investigated claims by Royce Reed that Howard abused their son. Howard admitted to hitting 6 year old Braylon with a belt buckle but stated in court records that he "never caused marks, bruises, welts or injuries requiring medical treatment."
I couldn't decide which Disney movie to vote for. I guess I should have specified "favorite" instead of "best" in the poll. I know that the message of The Little Mermaid isn't the best (give up your family, your life, and your voice for a guy who doesn't know you exist), but the Alan Menken/Howard Ashford songs are so good!
Maybe it’s just me, but I’m getting very uncomfortable with the way Carrie Ann talk to and about Ilona and being feminine. She seems to be saying that when Ilona is demonstrating physical strength that she’s not being feminine and I think it’s kinda gross.
I agree. Sharna has been doing recaps on her IG and she suggested replacing the word feminine with sensual and I think that sounds much better so I wish Carrie Ann would start using that.
I feel like rugby players get that a lot, same with boxers, weightlifters, etc. It's gross how everyone suddenly changed their tune about Imane Khelif when she put on a dress and some jewelry. Femininity contains multitudes
I only watch the performance videos on YT (because the judges' remarks are usually useless) so I didn't know Carrie Ann has been doing this but it sounds gross. It's even worse that she would say these things the week that Ilona used Luisa's song. I know this show is ostensibly about ballroom dancing but it seems outdated to harp on a female athlete being feminine. I love that her several of her routines have had Alan lift her immediately followed by Ilona lifting him.
I definitely don't miss Nigel Lythgoe's grandpa comments to SYTYCD's male contestants about how they needed to be more masculine, and I certainly don't need Carrie Ann going down that path either.
