CEO is such a funny way to refer to someone who owns a singular practice. Like, her father was basically the receptionist there, this doesn't sound like a huge enterprise in a town of 600 people.

I know! Animal "hospital" is not the same as a hospital that serves humans. It is a clinic with as few as one vet on staff.

Once again, i do not know CR's life, and would not feel any particular way if she did lie about her "humble roots." But none of the thing mentioned in the post seem like big "gotcha"s.

Yeah, the vet I take my dog to has "veterinary hospital" in the title and it is just a small, ordinary vet. honestly i think maybe they're allowed to call it that if they have an x-ray machine bc my vet can't do ultrasounds or anything more advanced than that.

Same - the veterinary hospital near my house is a tiny office in a mini-strip of five stores located a block away from a residential neighborhood. It's not a huge ten story building with hundreds of employees. It's like a waiting room and two exam rooms.

Class is such a weird thing and I think no matter how people were raised they almost always end up feeling they should have more.

The worst is always British celebs who are like "mummy and daddy had to scrape to get by" and then you find out they went to some insane private school that costs more than most people make in a year (looking at you Emma Watson).

The moment a British person still refers to their parents as mummy and daddy, you know they´re not from a humble background

And also a big part of it is who you are surrounded by. My sister has a bunch of rich friends so she always felt poor by comparison. I'm one of the more well-off among my friend group even when I was making $28k a year in grad school/I do homeless outreach/volunteer to help with food insecuity, so I only feel poor when I look at the price of stuff in the grocery store/airline tickets x_x

Lana Del Rey always comes to mind about exaggerated humble rags to riches story. I remember people being invested in that on both sides, whether they were trying to prove her right or wrong lmao.

I work with a girl, or did cause she got fired, who is always trying to downplay her upbringing. Her dad is a multimillionaire though lol. And yeah he’s frugal when it comes to helping her for the most part but he also still pays some of her rent and never charged her rent when she moved in with him. I’ll be talking about sharing a bed with my mom and sibling as a teen and she’ll be right there agreeing how tough it was to grow up poor. Girl you had your own room at your mom and dad’s houses 😭😭 she does the same for weight even though at the time I was like at least 80bs heavier. I finally had to ask her to stop saying “people our size” and stuff cause like girl we were not the same size and did not fully share the struggle.

People like your ex-coworker literally have no self awareness whatsoever…😬

Can this ontd hate boner for Chappelle end? We live in a time where 99.9% of new celebrities are nepo-babies and you want to attack one of the few who was lucky enough to make a name for herself without having a famous family.

mte, there are plenty of reasons to dislike her without scrutinizing her background

as neither a fan or a hater, here's my opinion on how to survive (I know you totally asked for it): if you choose to say and do controversial things in public, you need to be prepared to defend yourself, or you adapt and stop giving a fuck, and you let people think what they want. people are willing to defend her at great lengths, which I think says something significant about her strength of character.

she's got to learn to stick up for herself, though. it's hard. no judgement, I wouldn't want to trade places.

I think it's fair to say she's wise for her age. she's still quite green in the industry. it's not a critique, but life is not something you conquer at 25. if she thinks that way, she's gonna stall out. life's gonna keep kicking your ass til you die.

My mom used to go the fuck off about Kathie Lee Gifford lying about being a poor child, just because she had to help at her parents' resort hotel. But I feel the same way about Alex Aster, pretending she struggled when everyone in Jacksonville knows her dad's dealership commercials and where his house is 🤣

She did. We had a post about it months ago. Strangely enough, it's not coming up in any searches anymore. Not here, not on Google or even Bing. If I look on Yahoo, other people were searching for "ONTD Alex Aster" in the past. I've even tried phrases I directly remember using in that thread & that's been no use. I'm either searching wrong or her PR team has done a brilliant job cleaning up her search results.

i might have been in that post. it's hilarious that she thought she could get away with that when so many people in DUUUUUUUuuuuuuvaaaaaalllll are driving cars they bought from her dad.
