Oh no, I'm glad you did! I was a huge fan of Lisa Marie's albums (especially her first) & I kept waiting for more information about how it was since I knew she'd passed before completing it.

I am unsurprised that I still related to her like I thought I would & always did through her music.

I'm honestly still hoping all her album outtakes/demos get released one day. I'm dying to hear her and Danny's r&b demo and the garage sessions if Better Beware is an example of their collaborations together.

idk this just all makes me realize how strong our traumas as youth reverberate when we are adults, which of course, duh

however, the neglect lisa marie had as a kid followed her throughout her life.

i'm glad she was able to break some of those patterns from priscilla, but the boundary breaking she did to riley (your friends are my friends, sharing details about her intimate life) is another symptom of how bad of a parent priscilla and the how jarring her elvis' enormous fame was

i'm glad riley felt the love, and she had a father as stable as danny. danny was such a grounding force to the hurricane of a life lisa marie was born into

Danny was a stabilizing influence in Lisa's life, but this was the first chapter I kind of felt he may not have been all the time (not in a negative way towards him!) between Lisa's boyfriend being upset he's around all the time and the only wedding of three she has a panic attack for was when he was present in the wedding party? Quite vibey.

I think he was stable compared to Lisa Marie’s life 🥴

Riley saying he would come in and out during parties and have crazy stories also tells me he was prolly a bit of a wild man.

I think what mattered was his presence in their lives despite everything (which I think Lisa Marie appreciated the sense of unconditional companionship)

He was absolutely ride or die regarding Lisa Marie and the family (to the point he was helping raise the twins at the end). His was probably the most unconditional love Lisa had other than her children and thankfully she had at least that, even if he declined to reconcile with her on a relationship level.

Danny seemed like a really big partier with crazy stories but also a good guy and father. Like, why does he know Cyndi Lauper?? Lol

Honestly, it is kinda impressive that Riley has a good head on her shoulders with scientology and her family. I think it helps that Lisa Marie was very maternal (despite treating Riley like a friend) and that Danny was always there.

It sucks that all the scientology stuff was left out but it sounds like Riley is out of it.
