We went to see Exhibiting Forgiveness last night. It's a small indie movie that had very little promo, there were only a couple dozen people in our theater, and yet it was still somehow attended by a couple assholes murmuring through the whole movie. Shut the fuck up in movie theaters challenge!!!!!!!

Despite that, we really liked it. André Holland was amazing, as per usual, and the rest of the cast was good, too, with John Earl Jelks as a highlight. It deals with generational trauma, which is obviously a tough subject, but it's very beautifully handled with a strong resolution. Hard to believe it came from a first time director, as he has a strong POV and some great shots throughout. Begging directors to put André Holland in more things!!

Tonight, we're going to see Dune 2 in IMAX (for the third? time, lol). It's only in a couple theaters for a couple days in LA because of award promo, but we both love it and were immediately down to see it again, lol. Other potential watches for this week: We Live in Time, which I've seen, but my ( ... )

I'm excited - my friend and I will see Melissa Barrera's new movie Your Monster (opening Oct 25) either this weekend or next weekend.

It looks dorky and fun. We haven't been to the theatre since Deadpool and Wolverine.

Saw the Wild Robot . Super cute. Enjoyed it. Even the little DreamWorks intro clip showed more heart and innovation than the trash Disney has been putting out lately. Tbh it ended in the middle for me, but I think they realized shit this is for theaters we need to tack on an hour more...

Going to see Smile 2 on Tuesday.

those are great numbers for anora and we live in time. i luckily already got to see the first and was thinking about seeing the second this coming weekend, but i was worried it might vanish from theatres near me quickly since a24 can be unpredictable like that. i'm guessing i should be good since it did that well with fewer theatres.

I saw We Live in Time and The Wild Robot on Friday.

I enjoyed WLIT but I was not wowed by it. The non-linear timeline worked well and the acting was good, but after reflection the timeline is only what separates it from similar movies with it's plotline. Also I felt like none of their fights were properly resolved? I will say I loved the whole sequence in the bathroom. That was well done.

I LOVED The Wild robot but there is not much for me to add that has not already been said. I think I cried 3 times

I agree that it's not really doing anything new, but that's fairly difficult in a genre as old as the romantic melodrama/dancer weepy. The non-chronological approach I found did have the effect of making a lot of the stock elements feel less like cliches, for whatever reason.
