Weekend Box Office: 'Smile 2' Keeps Horror on Top

Though the box office was not exactly aflame this weekend, Smile 2 took in $23 million for the top spot, pushing last week's champ Terrifer 3 into third place with $9.1 million. Newcomer We Live in Time took the fifth place spot with $4.1 million in less than 1k theaters, while The Wild Robot and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice filled out the top five with $10 million and $5 million takes, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Joker sequel continues to astound with its poor box office performance - its third weekend of release had it in sixth place with $2.2 million, for a $56.4 million domestic haul.
In limited release, Sean Baker's Anora pulled in $540k from six theaters in NYC and LA, giving it a $90k per theater average. The film opens wide in two weeks.
