I’m a little tipsy right now, but I’m just gonna say that I think Andrew is just the type of person to just forgive, especially maybe after losing someone so close to him. Everything I’ve read re: him talking about Mel doesn’t excuse Mel‘s behavior, but rather is framed in the context of Andrew forgiving him personally. And I think no matter how bad someone is or what they do, each individual is allowed to do that if that’s what they want to do and it doesn’t make them a bad person. Sometimes the burden of carrying anger at someone, regardless of their guilt and shiftiness, is heavier than it’s worth carrying, and maybe that’s the case for Andrew.
I've heard him talk about this before, but I think it's important to talk to kids about this stuff, so it's nice that Sesame Street featured something like this. I cried.
i <3 sesame street for taking care to approach difficult topics with kids in a way that's accessible/understandable to them! elmo was so fucking cute and sweet in this, good job sesame street
I love that they had Elmo say "Thank you for sharing that with me and I'm going to think about your mum, too". Like, IDK, I'M CRYING. That's so important.
that REALLY got me, i teared up. such a sweet thing to say (i say as though elmo is a real person haha, but kudos to the sesame street writers, for real <3)
