A teacher I had hated her for “pretending” to be WASP when she apparently didn’t have the breeding to be making chiffon cake or whatever. It was interesting how that got brought up to me right I was getting interested in baking as a kid with a Slavic first and last name.

Martha never hid being Polish. She used to have her mom on to make pierogies and other Polish recipes. I love pierogies.

I have gone back and forth over her, but you have to admire her determination and work ethic.

So that and a lot of other small things just makes me like her
