I’m glad she caught it early and is doing well. The last pic made me tear up a little; it’s great that she had so much support, and Angela is really sweet.
I’m getting tissue removed from my breast soon so they can do a more extensive biopsy. I’m so nervous and also sad I’m gonna have a scar on my boob now but better than the alternative.
I feel like I’m hearing more and more about so many women getting breast cancer and much younger. It’s so scary! They seriously need to lower the mammogram age or just not have any age limit at all. Let women decide! They found mine from a skin cancer check! (Get your freckles checked yearly people! I would’ve swore mine was nothing!!)
I hope your testing goes well. Most skin cancers are easily treatable.
I do think insurance will cover earlier mammograms if you have a lump. Your doctor has to order it the right way. I have an inch lump in my left titty and my mammogram was only $6. It is a cluster of many benign cysts. I hope yours is also benign.
they should lower it more. I got diagnosed when I was 31. I had to fight for a mammogram and breast ultrasound cause I just knew something was not right.
Wishing nothing but the best for Jenna, I'm glad she is doing well ❤️
I had my first ever mammogram this year and as someone who has a low pain threshold it was a very smooth and fast process. It probably helps that I have small breasts but I highly recommend any women to get it especially if your 30+ years old. I would rather get 10 mammograms done back to back then do another MRI breast bilateral ever again, now that was terrible.
I guess this is as best of a place to ask but I was diagnosed with the BRCA1 gene earlier this year and I'm planning on getting preventative surgery done on my breasts (aka a mastectomy) to heavily cut down my chances of breast cancer appearing. I'm debating on either just removing my breasts all together or going with the diep flap which I know is more stressful recovery wise. I'm just curious if you all ever had to go through this or knew someone that did and what the experience was like especially with a diep flap.
I've not been found to have any genetic mutations (of the ones they tested, I should say), but as I was anxiety researching while waiting for my test results, I found out about people who call themselves "previvors". They're people who have been found to have genetic mutations for illnesses. I'm not sure where you are, but perhaps you can look up breast cancer previvors in your area to speak to some of them who were looking at the same options you were.
No experience with this but I hope your surgery goes smoothly and your recovery is fast, no matter what you choose. It's scary but you're doing the right thing by being proactive with your health.
This is a good reminder that I just turned 40 and can schedule my first free screening. Which is good because I was about to pay out of pocket due to pain symptoms (which are hard to trust because my breasts are fibrous and have hurt my entire life, which is very convenient.)

Ontario just literally lowered the age of self referrals for breast cancer to 40: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/mammogram-self-referral-age-lowered-1.7345946
