Just fyi, Charisma’s IG is private so we can’t see the post.

Anyway, I loved this show but hated when they added Fred. I still don’t understand what the point of her character was. I would honestly argue that Gunn and Wesley’s whole feud over her is part of what led to the shows downfall.

The Fred/Gunn/Wesley triangle was awful. She became so much more interesting to me as Illyria though.

Illyria was soooooo good, to the point that I forget it was Amy Acker under there (because I do not like Amy's acting but LOVED Illyria.)

IMO it's Whedon inability to NOT have a innocent girlish character that also is super smart/strong/physic/whatever.

Every time his main female character matured, he introduced this trope (Buffy grew up -> Dawn, Cordelia got responsible -> Fred, Fred got possessed -> Harmony, and Firefly never got that far but it had River)

This is it. Whedon always included the waif-ish, naive female character in all of his shows (sometimes more than one at a time), to the point that it reads like a fetish, and it's probably at its most obvious and off-putting with Fred.

Fred was honestly such a nonentity to me. When she showed up I was just like, Why? She didn't really add anything to the show imo. I just didn't think she was necessary. I sort of liked Illyria and her look but that's about it.

I liked Free but hated the triangle. I was Fred/Gunn and Wesley/Lilah all the way.

It is clear though that Whedon has an obsession bias towards waify women and she was very Mary Sue at times.

I didn't think much of Fred but I loved Illyria.

I hated Fred with such a passion. Frankly, I liked her transformation into Illyria. Should've happened sooner, minus the wack love triangle.

I hated Fred too, by the end of the show I was full bitch eating crackers with her, but I loved Cordelia, her episode where her apartment is haunted and this amazing speech
Back off, Polygrip! You think you're bad? All mean and haunty? Picking on poor, pathetic Cordy? Well, get ready to haul your wrinkly, translucent ass out of this place, 'cause lady, the bitch is back.

Plus I loved how Dennis the nice ghost just hangs out with her

As soon as I read the title of this post, I thought of phantom Dennis. He was the best roommate.

It was sweet that he was sad after she died.

I want to believe they found each other in the afterlife and are just chilling.

Whew, I’ve found my people. Fred was fine at best, but she was too much like Willow 2.0 for me to care. It’s that manic pixie nerd girl archetype that I grew to despise over time. I’ve coped by believing that part of why everyone fought hard for Fred was from regret over how they treated Cordy.

I liked Fred (or at least I don't remember hating her lol) but I hated that stupid love feud so much. Also, I wish more shows would just do a true love triangle and just make it a polyamorous thing like they did on Siren lol

Wesley/Lilah were so much hotter and better. Illyria was a better character than Fred by far. Gunn deserved better storylines than he was given
